The forthcoming Brent East by-election provides the first real opportunity for the British people to pronounce on Tony Blair and his policies of pre-emptive military intervention and war. He has brought the office of Prime Minister into disrepute.
We now have an opportunity that should not be wasted.
We have had the protest and what a protest it was! We have raised our voices. Now we need to make our presence felt by winning the Brent East by-election. The British people are waiting for an opportunity to repudiate Blair. The voters of Brent East will not disappoint them.
Brent East is a winnable seat. This is the reason I am standing. I am not standing just to make a point. I am standing to win. Winning requires a professionally run and adequately resourced campaign. This is why I have no hesitation in asking for your support. I make no bones about it. We need money. The other parties could spend as much as £100,000 each.
